Owen Park Trail Project
The Republic Parks & Recreation Department has been granted provisional approval, pending environmental clearance, for a Recreational Trails Program (RTP) grant for the Owen Park Trail Project in the amount of $73,784.00.  The project was reviewed and recommended by the Missouri Trails Advisory Board to the Federal Highway Administration where it was granted the approval.  The main component of the Owen Park Trail Project is the construction of an approximate .65 mile, asphalt surface trail with a connector path to the existing playground.  Additional amenities include new park benches, trashcans, pet waste station, trailhead signage, landscaping, and trees.  The total project expense is estimated to be $144,438.00.

Parks & Recreation staff will begin work immediately on the environmental clearance portion of the project.  From there, a timeline will be established for the formal bidding and construction of the trail with a target goal for completion in the 2nd quarter of 2018.
