FARMERS MARKET/COMMUNITY EVENT SPACE @ J.R. MARTIN PARK
The development of a farmers market/community event space at J.R. Martin Park will create a truly unique event space for the City of Republic! In addition to The Amp (outdoor amphitheater constructed in 2014), Phase 1 of this project will add several improvements to J.R. Martin Park including a large farmers market pavilion, plaza space with seating, food truck space, expanded parking, trail connections to the new space, art elements, and a concession/storage building (if funding allows). Phase 2 includes an outdoor classroom, unique play elements, and additional art and educational elements.
COMMUNITY PARK & REGIONAL ATHLETIC COMPLEX
The development of large community park featuring a regional athletic complex is the largest of our three (3) projects. The development will take place on 136 acres along James River Freeway. The site already houses a city water tower and will be located adjacent to realigned MM Highway and the Republic School District's new 5/6 Center (pending voter approval). Phase 1 of this project is slated to include five (5) baseball/softball fields, four (4) soccer/multisport fields, 12 pickleball courts, entry pavilion, retention pond, large areas of green space, support facilities, and parking. Phase 2 of the project is essentially a replica of Phase 1 on the other end of the property.
