The City of Republic announces the upcoming departure of Mike Landis, Public Information Officer. Landis, whose resignation is effective April 9, 2021, plans to pursue a local TV news opportunity.
Landis came to the City of Republic in June of 2018 and built the brand new Public Information Department. During the previous three years, he oversaw the rapid expansion of the communications division, which coincided with the community's explosive population and commercial growth.
"Mike was Republic's inaugural Public Information Officer, and he exceeded expectations with his professional work product. His use of graphics and design layout was nothing short of exceptional," stated David Cameron, City Administrator. "Mike represented the City well from a public information aspect and tackled difficult information with class and professionalism."
While Landis will be leaving the City of Republic, he won't be going far. He'll be staying locally and returning to his roots in television news. In mid-April, he begins on-air duties with Springfield's CBS-affiliate KOLR-10 and Ozarks FOX.
"What an exciting adventure it has been working with such an awesome community and amazing staff," Landis said. "I've been honored to play a part in connecting city leadership with the citizens. The folks of this great town have made me feel like family. I'm grateful to City Administrator David Cameron for the opportunity to grow and serve with a top-notch team."
The City of Republic has started the search for candidates for the Public Information Officer vacancy.
