All additions of decking to a residential dwelling must be permitted by the City. If the construction is not being done by a licensed contractor, a to-scale drawing must be submitted with a Deck Permit Application (PDF) for review by the City’s Building Inspector. Please review the City Deck Guidelines (PDF) before submitting your application.
Permit applications require the following information for completion:
- Dimensions of the proposed deck/porch
- Lot setbacks of deck/porch
- Total square footage to be added
All deck construction requires inspections for both the rough-framing stage and the completed work. Inspections are scheduled by calling the City’s Inspection Hot-Line at 417-732-3170.
