FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

REPUBLIC, MO - The City of Republic is pleased to announce the naming of Brian Sells to the role of Chief of Police. Sells' new title became effective Monday, July 23, 2018.

Chief Sells' promotion follows his service as Interim Police Chief, a position he was appointed to in May 2018 following the retirement of Mike Lawton. Prior to that, Sells served 15 years as Patrol Sergeant.  He began his law enforcement career with the Republic Police Department in 1996.

David Cameron, City Administrator, explained, “I am excited for Chief Sells, the Republic Police Department, and the community.  Brian offers over 22 years of law enforcement experience, yet more importantly, his entire career has been committed to the citizens of Republic.  Cameron added, "Having both the internal and external knowledge of the position and community was important in the decision.  Brian has a passion for his fellow officers and his community, and I look forward to his leadership and anticipate great things”.

Sells looks forward to continuing to serve the citizens of the community in his expanded capacity.

"I am honored to be chosen to lead the men and women of the Republic Police Department. The Republic Police Department has a rich history of working with the community in resolving issues and enhancing safety and security.  My passion is to use collaborative approaches to build on this very strong foundation."
