The City of Republic is proud to introduce a new tool helping it accomplish its mission of being “aggressively progressive through Processes, Relationships, and Trust.” In November, City Hall launched its new Citizen Transparency Portal. The program allows Republic citizens to more easily view their local government’s financial records. This project meets the goal set by city staff and leadership of increasing transparency while giving timely data to any person who has a stake in the community (residents, businesses, and the many visitors to the Republic community.) The program, known as the Citizen Transparency Portal, was launched Tuesday, November 27. It gives citizens and prospective businesses/residents a look inside the up-to-date financials of the city. The year-end audit will still show the financial statements and address issues such as depreciation, assets and interest accounts from a governmental accounting standard. The portal allows you to track spending of each city department, with a feature allowing searches by category, fund, and vendor. Data will be updated every other Friday, and will include the city’s expenses, revenues, and vendor payments. Expansions to the program are expected in the coming weeks. On January 1, 2019, the payroll data link will go live and will show the gross and net payroll for the year of all employees. The information is public record and now will be easily accessible to the public. The State of Missouri has been providing similar data on their site mapyourtaxes.mo.gov.The link to the Citizen Transparency Portal will be on the City of Republic website or can be found at TinyURL.com/RepublicFinances
